Circa 1992

OUR STORY

1972
Notch Founded
Roger Neveu, a skilled pipefitter-welder for an industrial boiler service company, founded Notch Welding as a sole proprietorship. Leveraging this experience, Roger focused his new business on the industrial heating and piping market. The company consisted of only three employees and operated out of Roger’s home near the Amherst-Granby notch in the Holyoke Range (the origin of the company’s name).
1976
Growth & Incorporation
The company had grown to 8 employees and incorporated under the name of Notch Welding & Mechanical Contractors, Inc. Its primary market was the industrial sector of western Massachusetts.
1992
A Place to call Home
Notch built its current 15,000 square foot office and fabrication shop in Chicopee, MA to accommodate the growing staff, expand its pre-fabrication capabilities and access to both major Western Massachusetts’ highways.
1995
Expanding our Reach
Notch expanded its geographic service region to include southern New England, which allowed the company to continue to grow while maintaining its specialty piping focus.
2000
Continuing the legacy
The second generation of the Neveu family purchased the company from Roger. Five of his seven children formed the new ownership team, which would carry the company into the future.
2002
Adopting a name
The company adopted the trade name of Notch Mechanical Constructors, as a way to better reflect its broad and increasingly sophisticated project capabilities
2008
Hello Hudson
Notch opened a satellite office in Hudson, Massachusetts to better service its eastern New England clients in MA, RI, and NH.
2020
100% Employee Owned
