STONEHAM, MA – The Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) recently awarded its national Safety Training and Evaluation Program (STEP) “Platinum” award for 2007 to Notch Mechanical Constructors. This is the highest level safety award, and Notch has received it for the 3rd year in a row.

The S.T.E.P. program was established in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee. It was developed by contractors to provide an objective, accurate and specific methodology their fellow ABC members can use to measure jobsite safety programs.

The award was presented at the Gould Construction Institute’s fourth annual Safety and Education gala on May 22, 2008 at the Montvale Plaza in Stoneham, MA. As GCI’s Executive Director, Barbara Lagergren, states, “We work in an inherently dangerous business, but this year’s winners again demonstrate that safety and productivity are complementary, not competitive. Safety means not losing precious man-hours to injuries, and it also helps us live up to our responsibility to the employees who are at the heart of our success.”
