Mon., Jun 25, 2012 At Notch, we really DO put safety first! We are pleased to announce that we recently received the STEP Diamond Award from the National Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC). Out of 2,174 companies across the country who participated in the ABC STEP Program, only 74 were qualified to win the STEP Diamond Award.
In order to be eligible to receive a STEP Diamond Award a company must maintain a maximum incidence rate of 50% below their Bureau of Labor Statistics’ North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code average for each of the previous three years. This means a company would need to have less than half of the total number of recordable incidents than their industry equivalents. The STEP Diamond applicants must also maintain an EMR of 0.700 or below; for companies with fewer than 100 employees, the maximum allowable EMR is 0.800.
Not only does a STEP Diamond applicant need to maintain a low EMR but also hold a three-year history of workers’ compensation payouts vs. the insured’s premium. This is at least 20% below the average for the construction industry.
Receiving this STEP Diamond Award not only validates Notch’s exceptional safety performance for one year, but to our company’s overall commitment to safety over a three-year period. With 1,000+ days of being incident and accident free, Notch proves that is one of the safest mechanical contractors in the New England Region. We aim to continue our excellent safety record to keep our employees and customers safe on and off the jobsites for years to come.
