ABC national craft championship 08

Congratulations are in order for Thomas Carlson, Jr., an apprentice at Notch who earned the award as the top pipe welder trainee in Massachusetts. This entitled him to compete among 135 trainees in 11 crafts in the National Craft Championship held at the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) national convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico on March 5-9. A total of 135 trainees competed in 11 crafts, including carpentry, electrical, fire sprinkler, HVAC, insulation, metal building, millwright, pipefitting, plumbing, sheet metal and pipe welding, first taking a written exam, and then moving on to an intense six-hour hands-on test. The event, the dedication of the trainees, and the commitment of ABC and its member firms are a good representation of the future of the construction industry.
