SOUTHINGTON, CT – The Connecticut Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) recently recognized Notch Mechanical Constructors for its national Safety Training and Evaluation Program (STEP) “Platinum” award for 2008. CT ABC also selected Notch from all the specialty contractor winners and bestowed the “Best of the Best” award for its exemplary safety record. Field Supervisor, Jim Cote, accepted this award for Notch. The awards were presented at Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. Annual Dinner & Excellence in Construction Awards at the Aquaturf in Southington, CT on January 22, 2009. A new attendance record was set at this awards dinner which drew 700 participants.

On January 29, 2009, shortly after the awards presentation, Notch achieved the significant safety milestone of 500 days safe. This is due to the commitment of the entire Notch team to “Put Safety First”.

The Associated Builders and Contractors S.T.E.P. program was established in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee. It was developed by contractors to provide an objective, accurate and specific methodology their fellow ABC members can use to measure job site safety programs.
